Piotr Szewczyk (born in Poland, moving to United States at the age 15) studied violin (with Kurt Sassmannshaus and Piotr Milewski) and composition (with Joel Hoffman, Michael Fiday, Henry Gwiazda and Ricard Zohn-Muldoon) at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.
Piotr Szewczyk is a recipient of numerous awards both as violinist and composer, for example: winner of Florida Composers’ Competition (2008), winner of Society of Composers Inc. Competition (2009), winner of Rapido! Composition Contest by Atlanta Chamber Players and this year winner of Third Millennium Ensemble Composition Contest.
Since 2007 he is a violinist in the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra in Florida, an active recitalist, soloist and freelance composer. His music was featured on National Public Radio and has been performed by the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony, Ensemble GREEN, ALIAS Ensemble, Sybarite Chamber Players, Juventas New Music Ensemble, Third Millenium Ensemble, Atlanta Chamber Players Spoleto Festival USA and many others.
His “Violin Futura Project” is a recital of brand new, short, exciting and innovative solo violin pieces written and dedicated to him by renowned composers from around the world.
